In the Ugandan district of Lowero, about 3 hours from Kampala, in a place called Kikadwa we have secured the use of 50 acres of land to cultivate. The beneficiaries of this food are the schools at Ndeeba & Kirabo Childrens Centre which is a small school situated on the land.  At present due to a limit of funds we are only cultivating 10 acres, as more funds become available to us we will begin harvesting the remaining land.

On the 10 acres we are currently growing maize, cassava, beans, pineapples & melons.  It is very exciting seeing the crops growing.  We have so far this year harvested our first maize; our fruit will take much longer.

Growing our own crops will enable the children at the schools to have access to a more varied, balanced & healthier meal.  Through the schools we would like to be able to provide each child with one nutritious lunchtime meal each day during term time.  Also the schools can sell some of the produce to provide a sustainable income & the children near the land can also have the opportunity to learn about agriculture.
